VRR Deep Dive: Are Realistic Memories Formed In VR?

John Carmack mentioned a while ago that memories formed in VR can be just as real as memories formed in the real world. We touched on this briefly during episode 26 of VR Roundtable but I just wanted to explore this subject a little further in this short follow up episode. The audio podcast version of our weekly VR Roundtable show is available on iTunes as well as all the other usual places.

VRR Deep Dive: Artificial Controls & Complete VR Experiences

In this Deep Dive, Steve explores the criticisms of VR titles lacking motion controls. Even with motion controls most titles still have artificial elements, so a well made game without motion controls isn't truly any less of a legitimate VR experience based on that element alone especially if it doesn't have any of the secondary problems that motion controls themselves exhibit.

VRR Deep Dive: Was the PSVR launch lineup the best day 1 lineup since the Xbox 360?

In this installment of "Deep Dives", Anthony explores the theory that the PlayStation VR launch lineup was one of the best we've seen since the arrival of the Xbox 360 way back in November 2005. He truly believes that the PSVR launch lineup is one of the most underrated launch day catalogs that we've seen in the last 12 years.

VRR Deep Dive: When Will VR Become Mainstream?

The first generation of consumer-ready VR headsets were released almost a year ago and it's safe to say the technology has yet to fully break into the mainstream. Enthusiasts and early adopters are the primary market at this stage, but what will it take for VR to truly break into mainstream consciousness?

In this short episode, I talk about some of my own opinions on this subject, and explore what kind of innovations I think need to be made in order to capture mainstream attention.

VRR Deep Dive: Thinking of getting VR? Know this.... VR will be a SLOW burn...

This time, Anthony talks about how widespread VR adoption is not going to happen overnight. VR Gamers are going to need a ton of patience to weather the early storm of VR's growing pains.

If you want to jump on the VR bandwagon, go ahead, but know what you're getting yourself into. Triple A games in all our favorite genres is going to take some time. We have to be accepting of these early VR games, and maybe we need to be more open minded about trying new genres and supporting these early VR efforts. Our patience will eventually be rewarded.
